The beach at Mbotyi, facing onto the warm Indian Ocean would be it’s main attraction for me.

It is beautiful, golden and completely uncrowded. Cool sea breezes keep the intense heat at bay. But make sure to use copious quantities of sunblock for obvious reasons. Read more…

Clarens Loop Trail

Sunday brought a beautiful clear, hot, almost cloudless day.

The ‘Titanic’ Rock at the entrance to Clarens is a great landmark. The rock formation was given this name in 1912 after the sinking of the real Titanic.

When you stand facing the rock it does have a remarkable resemblance to the view from waterline level of the bow of a huge ship!

Re-acquainting with people from way back, connecting with new friends, a craft brewery where the brews are divine and time melts away, encountering a herd of zebras in the wild, skirting Titanic on a blistering but spectacular hike, and movingly, a happenchance closing of the circle in a serene setting on two lightning-strike deaths, long-passed, RIP.
